Title: Yugoslavian Apple Pita

  CRUST
3cFlour
1tsSalt
1tbSugar
1/2lbButter/margarine
2 Egg yolks
5tbMilk
  FILLING:
3lbApples peeled and sliced
  Thin (McIntosh preferred)
4tbFlour
1cSugar
  Grated lemon rind or
  Few drops lemon juice
1tsCinnamon
1 Egg white slightly beaten
1/2cChopped walnuts mixed
  With a little sugar

To make dough for crust, combine flour, salt and sugar. Cut in butter/margarine. Combine the egg yolks and milk and mix into dry ingredients to form dough. Gather into a ball. wrap and chill 1 hour. For filling, combine apples, flour, sugar, lemon rind or juice and cinnamon. Roll out half the chilled dough to fit a 10 x 15 inch jelly roll pan. Fill with apple mixture, making sure all apple slices are pressed down flat. Roll out remaining dough and cut into strips to lay across apples in crisscross or lattice fashion. Brush strips with egg white and sprinkle with sugared nuts. Bake 1 hour, cool and cut into squares. From: Pmd1011@aol.Com
